Having my first real look at David Villa this WC. How excited are you to have him from the left and Messi from the right for the Blaugrana next year? A couple of tiny assassins!
Extremely excited. I've listened to Sid Lowe and Andy Brassell describe Villa as the best striker in the world for a year. I've watched him tally goals for Valencia and Spain at a phenomenal rate. I wanted him instead of Ibra last summer and now he's in the fold. He is going to fit perfectly with Barca's style, and his ability to hit the target from outside the box is a welcome change. Plus, he's versatile enough to play on the left of a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 or as the striker with Pedro or Iniesta on the left.
This soccer-watching novice has been blown away by Villa's panache and creativity. He's constantly looking for ways to keep pressure on the opposing defense.
One thing I've seen him (and some other foreigners) do that Altidore didn't is move well without the ball. In that regard, he is Ray Allen to Jozy's J.J. Redick.
